Artistic Director, Choreographer, Dancer

Shauna Dever Jones was born and raised in Owensboro, KY, trained with Joy Johnson and later danced with Owensboro Dance Theatre. She has her MFA in Dance from Florida State University and Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analysis Certification from IMS at University of Utah. Currently, she guest dances with DANCEe/ Elizabeth Ross Dance Company and in her own works (Shauna Dever Dance).  She is an adjunct professor in dance at Western Kentucky University, teaches at Johnson’s Dance Studio and educational outreach through Owensboro Dance Theatre. In collaboration with Owensboro Dance Theatre, Shauna spearheaded the "Rising Stars" program, Kentucky's only dance program dedicated to those with disabilities. Shauna has danced with Dance Repertory Theatre (Tallahassee), on scholarship with the Alwin Nikolais Legacy Workshop (Salt Lake City), and on summer scholarship at the Giordano Dance Center (Chicago).  Shauna also premiered a duet; “Round 2” choreographed by Dan Wagoner and has danced in other works by Gerri Houlihan, Lynda Davis, Jawole Willa Jo Zollar,  Alwin Nikolais, and Gus Giordano.

After many years of dancing and travel, Shauna returned to Kentucky and started Shauna Dever Dance in 2009. SDD is one of Kentucky's only contemporary dance companies and is nationally recognized.  SDD has been selected for artistic excellence to participate in the Performing Arts Directory, a program of the Kentucky Arts Council.  Shauna’s work has been invited to show at Alvin Ailey Studio (NYC), Big Range Austin Dance Festival (Austin, TX), DUMBO Dance Festival (NYC), the Nashville Fringe Festival, Kentucky Artist's Showcase and the Louisville Ballet Summer Program.
